A Guide to the Historic Neighborhood of Coconut Grove

coconut groveCoconut Grove is a particularly important part of Miami’s history as it is Miami’s original neighborhood being founded in 1873 by a diverse group of travelers, artists, and intellectuals.

Today, Coconut Grove still calls to eclectic circles, providing a local oasis and an alternative to the fast-paced city life found in other parts of Miami.

The Grove is located in the middle of Miami, yet somehow remains seemingly separated with its very unique characteristics. This Miami neighborhood offers a warm and easy-going atmosphere with charming boutiques, plenty of sidewalk cafes, and sailboats in view.

The historic neighborhood currently houses classic Miami restaurants and cafes, while at the same time experiencing a new wave of dining and cafe options, including Wynwood favorite, Panther Coffee, which recently opened a location in Coconut Grove.

Coconut GroveAs the neighborhood experiences an updated makeover, it still maintains its eclectic roots. One signature Grove dining option can be found at Strada in the Grove, an Italian restaurant voted Best Restaurant in Coconut Grove in 2014 by Miami New Times. Maurizio Farnelli, the mastermind behind Strada is also set to open a new pizza and salad restaurant across the street from Strada, which will be called Farinelli 1937.

Varied and healthy dining options is just one of the aspects to enjoy at the Grove where you’ll find beautiful historic parks, fun festivals, artistic events, and the many entertainment options that are as diverse as the Grove’s residents and visitors.  At the Grove, one can enjoy daytime activities for the whole family while still having several enticing nightlife options.

We think you’ll find the neighborhood is a great place to visit and a quaint place to live in.
